Funding Guide

Common Funding Streams

While MCOs manage the distribution of funds, the actual funding for services typically comes from one of the following streams.

NC Innovations Waiver

A Medicaid waiver providing specialized services for individuals with I/DD, enabling them to live in the community rather than an institution.

B3 Services

Medicaid-funded services designed as a safety net or a step-down from the Innovations Waiver, often including respite or supported living.

State Funded (IPRS)

State-allocated funds for individuals who do not have Medicaid but meet the criteria for developmental disability services.
